All About Me!
Hello!
I'm Susan and I have been loving conducting ceremonies since way back in 2008 when my first ceremony was a naming day for my son.
Like most parents we wanted to celebrate my new baby, but also like most, we wasn't of any particular religion, so I just created a short ceremony of my own that fitted with what was important to us.
I found that I loved it. After that, I started marrying for the local Registrar's Office on the weekends. I loved that even more.
So I followed my heart, left my IT job, and became a full time celebrant.
I have never looked back, I have never regretted it for even a single heartbeat.
At that time all the celebrants in Scotland could fit round one table, which is where I became a founder member of the Scottish Indepenent Celebrants Association, and later it's Chair. It also means I am one of the most experienced celebrants in Scotland!
Over the years and thousands of ceremonies, I have helped all kinds of everyone, met every kind of couple, every sort of family, and yet still it can surprise me every day. I never stop learning and growing and most recently that has meant joining Open Beliefs Scotland, an agnostic group where we promote openness and inclusivity, things I strongly believe in.
There is a whole life away from celebrancy too, I am the Mum of the two most wonderful (and exhausting) teenagers, I am a longbow archer, and I play in a steelband, and I love my holidays in the Western Isles (pictured on the beach in Barra at sunset, my happy place!)
Most of all though, I love what I do, and I would love to help you with it too.

Scottish Independent Celebrants Association
So that you can be confident in the service I provide you, I am insured and regulated by the Scottish Independent Celebrants Association. I was honoured to be the Chair of SICA from October 2019 to October 2021.
SICA is a network of independent celebrants who help and support each other. SICA also peer reviews all it's members to ensure high standards. SICA provides continuous professional development opportunities throughout the year too.
In addition, I also hold a Disclosure Scotland Certificate. Testimonials and references from previous clients can be supplied on request.
